A term used to describe any type of
commerce carried out electronically, in which "x" denotes the type of
commerce in question. The most common varieties of relevance to internet
users are e-commerce and m-commerce, although people are
contriving all sorts of other values for x; t-commerce, for example, is
sometimes used to describe commercial activity conducted via television
sets. Visa has used the expression "u-commerce" to describe any transaction
conducted via a ubiquitous device such as a mobile phone or a pad.
Some companies refer to themselves simply as x-commerce companies, without
any apparent sing of the irony of such nomenclature. |
